Level 3 - post 6 (week 10) >> THEMED POST 3
My Favourite Food... to Cook for Myself.
Good day Everybody!, I hope you are enjoying the new season!
- min. 190 words,
- comments on 3 of your classmates and on your teacher's post.
- Answer: what is it?
- when do you cook it?
- how long have you made it?
- what's the recipe and how do you cook it?
I have always been related to the kitchen; My mum, as a child, would always say every person should know how to cook at least the minimum so as to survive in a good way. Considering also that I grew up in a time when big supermarket chains did not exist, a time when imported and/or processed food did not arrive and a time when cazuelas, humitas, porotos and several other, quite elaborate recipes, were the day-to-day food. Therefore....if you didn't cook, you couldn't eat.
Having grown around people cooking everywhere, it became natural to learn cooking methods and because of it I learnt the ways of chopping onion, how to cook it for different purposes, I learnt about secrets to make a good stew and I also learnt about timing...well - as of timing, I learnt about it only after a time I bought meat and cooked it on the grill but it wasn't meant for it, but it was for cooking stews!!!
Anyway, nowadays, I live on my own, I have a demanding job (tests to make, correct, handouts, bla bla bla) so with this lack of time and the need of eating healthy food, I like cooking my mom's Sunday recipe:
Tuna Salad:
I open a Tuna can, I chop and wash lettuce (any kind, though I prefer iceberg lettuce), I chop onion and let it sit with salt for about 5-10 minutes, then it becomes softer. I wash it and get rid of the strength of its flavour and the salt. I mix everything in a big pot...To dress it, I add lemon juice, canola oil (or any oil), some good mayonnaise and salt. Then, I eat it and go to work again. Well.... however, I still like taking time for cooking!
Now that I live alone in Santiago, I also had to learn how to cook for myself :(
ResponderBorrarThat plate is very delicious! I also cook that salad when I have hungry and I must study for the university
ResponderBorrarOh, the photo and the idea of the tuna salad makes me hungry :c I have to try it in my house.
ResponderBorrarThink the tune salad is a plate so easy for a student, actually for anyone, I prefer the warm meals, because like a vegetarian, I'm boring to eat salads.
ResponderBorrarMy mother also said the same thing and it's so true :)
ResponderBorrarI don´t like tuna... truly I like raw, l like how is it served in sushi. :)
ResponderBorrarOH MY GOD that's look amazing and delicious. Today that was my lunch... or something like that! I eat tuna with lettuce, but I still hungry :(

ResponderBorrarTime is always an important factor when it comes to cooking. Unfortunately many times there is no time to cook and it is used to eat fast food
i like salad but a time ago I only ate salads so I'm bored eating it.
ResponderBorrarHaha, I used to eat a lot of tuna salad, but it has been relegated in my life, until I had forgotten. I think it's time to eat again.

ResponderBorrarLately I have not had time to cook so I think it's a very good quick recipe!
Hahahahah now I can understand why you said to me today about opening a can and adding lettuce... and that's it! Of course this is better and looks tasty
ResponderBorrarIt sounds so good and it looks so tasty too, I would like to prove this salad, someday i will make that recipe in my home.
ResponderBorrarMy mom says the same thing: "If you can't cook, you can't eat. What are you going to do when I die!?" hahaha. It's definitely one of the best inheritance she left me.
ResponderBorrarI think mixing tuna with salads is not a good idea. The tuna tastes rich with mayo or with white sauce and add it to rice or noodles hehe
ResponderBorrarIn the picture the salad looks delicious! I do not like cooking, but since I've been in Santiago, I've had to force myself to survive, hahaha
ResponderBorrarI love tuna salad, but if i have to choose, im going for carbs any time.
ResponderBorrarI have tuna dependency
ResponderBorrarAren't you from the Fridays' group? LOOOL
Borrarchecked.
